New Year’s Eve has come and gone. Spirits flew high, resolutions were created, and kisses were shared. By now, a week has passed and you’re still holding on to some of the hope that accompanies the start of the year. It’s not too late to buy a gym membership, is it? Not to worry, it's never too late to make sure you have the best year yet.
There’s something about a new year that makes it magical. Although it’s cold outside and the weather is miserable, the promise of new beginnings keeps hope alive. It’s as if a New Year’s Fairy exists amongst the other legendary figures, and she makes it her mission to spread joy the night before a new year.
Revisiting 2017 (Not the best year)
2017 was a bit of wreck, which leaves us banking so much more on the possibilities 2018 may offer. Perhaps this is the year we find friends with real value, who support our pursuits and build our confidence. Or maybe 2018 is the year humans rediscover their empathy and people start caring enough to see beyond their minds, to understand the way their privilege affects others. Maybe, 2018 is the year our dreams come true.
I sure hope so. I am determined to make 2018 my best year yet, and I am certain that you can too.
Even with all of the trash that sprinkled itself throughout the past year, I was able to achieve A LOT of personal growth. It was rewarding, taxing, and discouraging all at once. Why? Well, growth doesn’t always mean advancement. Sometimes growth appears in the form of reflection and understanding anew.
For me, I became aware of a few shortfalls and other aspects of myself which require attention. I also drilled awareness through the recesses of my mind. It was hard to break through the walls that I had built for years, hard and incredibly uncomfortable, but because of this I know where to build. I know what I want and I have some idea as to how to accomplish it.
It’s because of these efforts that I am confident in my ability to make 2018 an amazing year (dare i say - the best?).
Achieving Personal Growth
If this sounds like something you desire: clarity, direction, and personal growth, then make it your goal to take a journey this year. It won’t cost you money, but you will need to invest your time and attention to get the results you seek.
Make yourself vulnerable to new answers and enlightenment. Ask questions that create questions to dive deeper within, and allow your soul to speak to your self. Most importantly, LISTEN. Really listen, because sometimes hearing your truth is the hardest part, especially if you don’t want to accept it.
- If you feel lost or confused, make 2018 a year of reflection.
- If you have a vague idea of what you may want, but you’re not sure how to get it, make 2018 a year of exploration.
- If you have already found answers that hold the key to your soul, then make 2018 a year to pursue them. Listen to what your energy is telling you, and take a chance on life.
No matter where you are on your journey, declare 2018 as YOUR year to create change in your life. The key to having your best year, is being honest with yourself, identifying areas for growth, and working on them to make positive change in your life. So whatever you do, don’t forget to follow through with your goals, because it doesn’t matter how hard you wish upon a star, you won’t get far without making the effort to transform your dreams into realities.
My goal for 2018 is to LIVE OUT LOUD. I want to spread my energy through the world, everywhere I go. I want to take the right chances to invigorate my life. I need to feel alive. In the past, something has always kept me from expressing my soul, but I am ready to let myself be. I am ready to LIVE OUT LOUD. I'm ready to have my best year yet!
