Toe Tapping Tunes to Celebrate Taurus Season
It’s my birth month! Yes, I am a Taurus & Yes, I am dedicating this playlist to myself! I hope this playlist helps you get through this month as well as these songs help me get through life. You can think of this playlist as an extension of my “meet me” playlist. Some songs may (or may not) have hidden messages. Enjoy!
DIE YOUNG - MAX FROST
Soft, smooth, sensual? I think this song is the perfect embodiment of my, well me. An experience that I don't want to ruin with words, just know this song will introduce you to a piece of me you have yet to understand. Max Frost deserves a listen.
LANDLOCKED BLUES - BRIGHT EYES
Bright Eyes has made it once again. Check them out on my 2o18 playlist as well. Today I’m taking a break from the dramatic descriptions. Tune in!
YOUTH - GLASS ANIMALS
This is the kind of song you jam all the way through without realizing it has started, and by the end you’re ready to play it again since you've missed the whole thing. Yes, this happens to me. Yes, I listen to these songs on replay while writing these posts. Yes, I only caught the end this time around. Absent minded indeed.
EVERYTHING IS EVERYTHING - PHOENIX
Phoenix is good. 1901 is another jam that didn’t make it into this list. If you like this song on the list, then take a look at that one as well.
THE REASON - HOOBASTANK
A classic 2000s song for a not-so-classic 20th Century kid. Wanna hear a secret? The crash always gets me. Always. “I’m not a perfect person” The song speaks for itself. Want to hear a secret? That’s the only lyric I can confidently belt. When I sing along, most of the bits that aren’t in the chorus are mumbled as they tumble from my mouth. Good song - I obviously don’t deserve it. Go ahead and give it a listen.
FLOAT ON - MODEST MOUSE
Guitar Hero World Tour. I will never not think of that game when I listen to this song. It’s funny, I didn’t realize I loved this song so much, but it turns out I’ve already featured it on another playlist. Whatever! My blog, my rules, and I rule in favor of repeats.
MIDNIGHT CITY - THE LAST BISON
This is such a good cover. As the melody picks up the innocent sound makes me young, thoughts clouded with the image of lucid sunrises, optimistic light leaks, and a hopeful kid running toward whichever fate awaits him. Though I'm not a fan of covers, this one’s a winner. Not better, nor worse, it’s a good song and I enjoy listening to it as much as I do the original. That’s all that matters.
MARDY BUM - ARCTIC MONKEYS
In high school, I had a massive AM phase. The fact that I could sit through every one of their albums on repeat is a testament to how much I enjoyed their music. I don’t know most songs, much less albums, of my "favorite" bands so this is big. Anyway, 5 years later and I still enjoy the shit out of this song. Cheers.
CHUBBY COWS - FREE CAKE FOR EVERY CREATURE
This song is hilarious. I haven’t listened to it more than two times and it’s not my typical type of tune, but maybe you will enjoy it. This is definitely more of a not-so-hidden message in a bottle (erm, playlist).
LIFE’S TOO SHORT - WILD PARTY
Wild Party’s album stands out because the cover art is a guy on a bicycle, and for whatever reason I find it pretty funny. Thanks to that oh-so-recognizable bicycle-man, I can confidently say I enjoy this band. I think I’m on the verge of falling in love with their album: Phantom Pop, funny.
A few moments ago, I thought it was a new album. It's not, but technically 2014’s only 4 years past, so that counts as new enough. Right? On a sad note, I’ve done some stalking, and it seems there hasn’t been much from the band in quite some time. Slightly concerned - I’m not saying Wild Party has broken up, but if they have, then through this album they’ll live on. #RIP.
That’s all for now! If you don’t usually listen to my playlists, do it for my birthday. I’m hitting the big 2-0. Not sure what that’s supposed to mean for me, or for my life in the near future, but on paper I look like a proper adult. No more teen-related jokes and such. I’ll stop rambling now so you can get on with it! Click the image below to listen to the playlist.
